Vision4Sustainability

Sustainability in the classroom arises not only from additional content, but also from the awareness of sustainability-relevant situations in pedagogical practice. The crucial factor is whether teachers recognize when an opportunity arises.

This is where Yulia Edeleva and Gina Do Manh's project comes in. They are developing a new professional development format for "Education for Sustainable Development Safaris": Using a structured map system and an optional AR-supported observation environment, teachers can identify teaching situations in which ecological, social, economic, or ethical issues arise implicitly or explicitly. These moments are documented and made available for reflection and professional development processes.

The project aims to reduce so-called belief-practice gaps, i.e., the discrepancies between teachers' beliefs about sustainability and their concrete implementation in the classroom. Furthermore, the project seeks to systematically strengthen institutional learning processes through immersive reflection formats. In addition to school contexts, language education, adult education, and international professional development programs are included. The project thus opens up perspectives for a scalable, transferable internationalization strategy in the field of sustainability-oriented education.
