Get Active Now - Practical perspectives on local, regional and global sustainability
„The seminar combines theoretical and practical perspectives on sustainability. In cooperation with local and regional organisations, a small, individually tailored project is carried out as part of the course; past courses have included a city tour on sustainability topics and a clothes swap party, as well as a FairTrade city map and social media content for a world shop.
The didactic concept is designed to prepare students for these projects so that the content of the seminar and the work to be done are closely interlinked. At the beginning of the seminar, we deal with the term sustainability and related concepts and contexts.
To this end, interactive, innovative methods are used to make theoretical content more comprehensible and to build on the students“ previous and everyday knowledge, e.g. a simulation game in the rooms of the Sustainability Centre. Local and regional initiatives then present their backgrounds, working methods and project proposals in the seminar. Together with the initiatives, we then start an exchange on which projects interest the students and which ideas they have themselves. They can check the feasibility of their own ideas together. The formation of working groups and the exchange of ideas with the organisations is therefore started in the seminar and then continued independently by the students until the final brief documentation of the projects."
