TechHeritage TUBS. Researching collections - sharing knowledge - shaping the future
With TechHeritage, the doctoral student Clemens Janke preserve and (re)activate the material cultural heritage of TU Braunschweig in the long term by developing the „Technical Heritage“ collection, the „Metrological Collection“ of the Institute of Geodesy and Photogrammetry and the „Educational Map Collection“ of the Institute of History.
Through the intergenerational exchange between the internal and non-academic stakeholder groups involved in the project in the Citizen Science format, knowledge that is only made accessible and accessible through the scientific examination of the collection objects is shared with future generations.
A preceding course and an interdisciplinary workshop (in April 2026) will provide the content and methodological framework for the exhibition of the collection objects (July 2026). The project will conclude with a publication containing essays on object history by students from the respective collections.
Through interaction with the objects in the collection, historical interrelationships between the city, the economy and science are made visible and at the same time new intergenerational spaces of possibility are opened up for an equal, multi-layered and conscientious future.
