“Trade in your old treasures for new discoveries!“ - Organisation of a sustainable swap party in Braunschweig

The aim of the project was not only to deal with sustainability in theory, but to implement it actively and locally. This gave rise to the idea of organising a Swap party to organise an event that promotes sustainable consumption and involves the local community.

The project was realised in cooperation with the Sustainability Centre Braunschweig realised, supported by the Sandpit platform of the TU Braunschweig. The event took place on 9 August 2024 at the Sustainability Centre. Participants were able to swap used items such as clothing, decorations, plants and toys while learning about the impact of the fast fashion industry. The event was complemented by music, a documentary and an offer to donate food and drinks in favour of the association Ofarin e.V.

Preparations included organising the venue, advertising via social media, posters and personal networks as well as designing the space with private furniture and decorations. The realisation was successful, with positive feedback and lively participation from visitors.
